Bummer, the maps stopped working…

[Update 2030hrs] – We’re pretty much on top of things, the site behaves as normal again. Sigh… Thanks for everyone’s understanding!

[Update 1630hrs] – we’re in the process of updating all maps. The basic Currently Cruising and individual boat maps are back up. We’ll work our way through all the other maps in the next 24 hours. I apologise for the interruption of service. Marius.

Today (Wednesday afternoon in Sydney) Google terminated support for version 2.0 of their maps. ┬áThe software library we use to deploy most maps on Skipr.net uses that version of Google maps and it crept up on us unexpectedly. Lots of egg on various faces. We’re working hard to restore maps to Skipr, please be patient, it could take a little while… We’ll post updates here.

By the way, reporting a position works fine and so does the mobile version (which you can use on the desktop as well).

On skipr.net my wife can get maps on her iPad, but I can’t get them on my computer running XP – do I need to download some additional support? I have adobe flash player 11.
    Cheers
    Jon.

Hi Jonathon. Not sure what you’re problem is there… Can you send me a screendump of a page like the currently cruising page?

Mmm… it looks like we no longer work with IE8. Unfortunately, this is due to the software library we use and not easily fixed. Please use Firefox or Chrome on XP.
